Politically Exposed Person Declaration

Pursuant to the Sint Maarten National Ordinance on the Prevention of Money Laundering and Terrorist Financing, Aalbers Private Tax Advisory is required to determine whether services will be provided to a Politically Exposed Person. Please complete this declaration in full.

Who is a Politically Exposed Person?

A PEP is a person who holds or has held (within the last 12 months) a prominent public function, including:

  • Head of State, Head of Government, Minister, Deputy Minister or State Secretary
  • Member of Parliament or a comparable legislative body
  • Member of the board of a national political party
  • Member of a supreme court, constitutional court or other high court
  • Member of a court of auditors or board of a central bank
  • Ambassador, Chargé d'affaires or Senior Army Officer
  • Member of the management or supervisory body of a public company
  • Director, deputy director or equivalent in an international organization

Family members of a PEP

  • Spouse or partner
  • Children and their spouse or partner
  • Parents; brothers and sisters

Close associates of a PEP

  • A person who, together with a PEP, is the ultimate beneficial owner of an organization
  • A person who has a close business relationship with a PEP
  • A person who is the ultimate beneficial owner of an organization set up for the actual benefit of a PEP

Foreign PEPs

Individuals who are or have been entrusted with prominent public functions by a foreign country — Heads of State, senior politicians, senior government, judicial or military officials, senior executives of state-owned corporations, or important political party officials.

International organization PEPs

Persons entrusted with a prominent function by an international organization — directors, deputy directors, and members of the board or equivalent functions.
